Outcome summary
Small and Mighty Group supported a premium natural fibre homewares retailer to reset global commercial strategy, unify digital channels, and streamline operations across multiple regions—strengthening customer experience and enabling scalable international growth.

The challenge
For established brands operating across multiple regions, growth is rarely about footprint alone. It depends on alignment—strategy, systems, customer experience, brand and delivery all moving together.
A renowned international retailer of premium natural fibre home and lifestyle products had strong foundations: sales offices, warehouses and production facilities spanning the United States, Europe, China, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. What was needed was a more unified, forward-looking commercial approach to unlock the next phase of global growth—without losing the quality and credibility the brand was known for.
Our role
Tara James stepped into the organisation as Executive Lead – Global Commercial Strategy (B2B & B2C) during a critical post-pandemic reset. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, the engagement focused on restoring clarity, strengthening execution, and aligning global commercial priorities with the realities of a changed market.
This was the second partnership with the organisation, building on earlier work that supported the development and launch of a direct-to-consumer brand created from the ground up—including a new product range, supply chain and distribution model. That earlier phase provided valuable insight into customer behaviour, operational capability and brand positioning, which helped accelerate the next stage of work.

What we did
1) Led a commercial reset across B2B and B2C
We supported leadership to define clear priorities and make decisions that strengthened performance across both channels—revitalising B2C while rebuilding momentum through global B2B pathways.
2) Designed a global sales and digital strategy
We developed a new international online sales strategy to ensure the business presented consistently across markets while retaining flexibility for local requirements.
This included a detailed review of:
- global product range and assortment logic
- inventory management practices and constraints
- current sales platforms and customer experience
- operational friction points across markets
The outcome was a clearer strategic direction supported by practical actions leaders could implement.
3) Implemented a unified ecommerce platform with local flexibility
A major deliverable was the selection and implementation of a new global ecommerce platform. It provided:
- a consistent brand look, feel and message across markets
- improved customer trust and recognition
- local market customisation to meet regional expectations
This created a more seamless experience for customers while strengthening the organisation’s position as a considered and adaptable leader in the premium homewares category.
4) Streamlined products and supply chain complexity
Alongside the digital transformation, the product range was refined to improve operational efficiency and regional relevance. By reducing complexity across warehousing and supply chain operations, the organisation increased agility without compromising quality.
This work strengthened scalability while protecting the craftsmanship and attention to detail that underpinned the brand.

Results
After more than a year of close collaboration, the organisation achieved:
- clearer global commercial direction across B2B and B2C
- stronger alignment between brand, channels and systems
- a unified digital platform that improved customer experience
- a more streamlined product and operational foundation for scale
The business is now better positioned to compete and grow in a complex international environment—supported by stronger systems, clearer priorities and improved cross-market consistency.
